Who are we?

BrisStyle is a collective of indie artists and crafters from the greater Brisbane area who sell on etsy.com.

BrisStyle supports its members in the business of creating handmade goods through the power and skills of the greater collective.

 

What does BrisStyle membership offer you??

• Advertising of your ETSY stores on the BrisStyle Blog/Website & ETSY Teams Profile Page
• Taking part in giveaways and promotions throughout the year on the BrisStyle Blog/Website/ Promotional Opportunities
• Participation in all of the BrisStyle Indie Designers Markets & Events (conditions apply)
• Participation in key industry events as a collaborative
• Representation through the BrisStyle Website, Newsletter, Online tutorials, Blog, Facebook page, Twitter and Flickr group
• Professional Graphic Design of ready templated flyers and promotional material to advertise BrisStyle events you may be taking part in. Banners/Blog Logos etc are also available
• Discounted membership to the Artworkers Alliance http://www.artworkers.org/
• A platform for you to add your own creative ideas to the group
• Access to the Google Group Forum gives you the chance to ask and gain information as well as be in contact with all our members
• Google group also acts as a forum for advice and information on business tips, supplies and materials, contacts, etc
• A dedicated Committee to facilitate your ideas and general running of all group activities, please remember the general running/organisation of the group does take a fair bit of time and all committee members contribute their time on a volunteer basis.

What do we expect from you??

You will need to have an active/open ETSY store (www.etsy.com). By an active store we mean that your store should:

• Be seen to be fresh and inviting with good quality pictures, correct tagging and concise content
• Have at least 10 handmade items for sale,
• Comply with ETSY guidelines and must include at least 10 items handmade by yourself (No on-selling of other peoples handmade goods, mass produced items and items made offshore etc are allowed), also the initial 10 items listed does not include any supplies/vintage items you may have listed.
• Have 100% positive feedback (or a legitimate reason as to why not)
• Your Etsy shop Profile will need to be relevant and informative(Profiles containing one sentence will not be accepted).
• Not use mature, profane and/or racist language or images in the public areas of your Etsy shop. This includes your banner, item titles, tags etc

You must also adhere to all of ETSY's rules and regulations as set out on their website and have family friendly based wares (i.e. no offensive language or images).

You must live in the Brisbane or greater Brisbane region.

We have an annual membership fee (currently $40 per year, renewable on the 1st July yearly). These funds are used for the general running of BrisStyle, advertising, promotional material etc throughout the year.
To participate in any ‘BrisStyle' events, whether they be organised directly by BrisStyle itself or be taken part of under the ‘BrisStyle banner' the member must be fully financial and always act in an appropriate manner as per the BrisStyle Code of Conduct (conditions apply).
If a member does not comply with any of the above criteria for membership the current committee may have the right to cancel the member's membership and remove any reference to the member from any BrisStyle related media, blog etc.

If you have a Blog/Website we will happily supply you with any BrisStyle Logos/Banners to further promote the group.

 

Highlights from 2008/2009:

• A growth in membership to over 150+ members since our inception in March 2008
• Hosting The BrisStyle Indie Designers Markets with 12+ Markets scheduled for 2010 as well as a host of other opportunities
• Hosting our now world famous Monthly Blog Giveaways and Member Features
• Attracting over 400+ dedicated followers on our blog worldwide
• Attracting a further 400+ local contacts for our on-line mailing list and another 1000+ followers through our Face Book and Twitter pages.
• Gaining promotional coups with several major media outlets including Channel 7, 9 and the Courier Mail as well as a host of print media such as Frankie Magazine and BMag.
• Building relationships with major Australian Indie art/craft supporters such as The Stitches and Craft Show, Living Creatively, MixTape, Peppermint magazines, 4ZzZ and Artworkers Alliance
• Building ongoing relationships with online blogs such as KID Independent and Handmade Kids.
• Seeing the inception of group collaborative representations at events such as the Racecourse Rd Street Party as well as other Market Co-ops
• Winning ETSY grants for funds towards promotional signage/material for our Markets
• Being an inspirational setting to inspire BrisStylers to take their creativeness to the next level
