Morata Weighed So Chelsea’s Most Expensive Player
Alvaro Morata came to Chelsea on July 19, 2017. Spanish striker was imported from Real Madrid with a dowry of 58 million pounds sterling.
The transfer broke the previous Chelsea record. Morata beat Fernando Torres who was bought from Liverpool in 2011 with a dowry of 50 million pounds sterling.
Being the most expensive player The Blues (nickname Chelsea), 24-year-old striker was burdened. He was awkward when his debut with Chelsea, August 12, 2017, against Arsenal in the Community Shield.
Nervous, Morata was unable to score against Arsenal in a penalty shootout. The Blues also lost 1-4 from the London Cannon in the game.
“When I first came to Chelsea I felt there was a lot of pressure, my price was a big problem, it made me fail to kick a penalty in the Community Shield,” said the former Juventus striker, quoted by Football Espana.
“At that point, I knew right away, I had to show the fangs quickly, but the criticism made me work harder than before,” Morata said.
Failure that makes Morata immediately rose. Until the fifth week of the English Premier League, he had scored three goals and contributed two assists for Chelsea.
